Microsoft Power BI: no words, just doen'r

DoenR Rotterdam

The first doen'r started five years ago. This Rotterdam-based recruitment agency has since grown into a close-knit team of 150 hardworking doen'rs. Moving three times in five years because you are outgrowing your current space. How do you maintain an overview in such a rapidly growing organization?

doen'r uses Power BI for the next phase of growth

Levi Reuhman and his partner Marijn Braakman like to stay on top of things. But without breaking their ankles. That is why we put our heads together and visualized the internal data. Literally. These gentlemen do not appreciate complicated and time-consuming systems, but rather clarity and honesty.

Data from NMBRS and Yoobi

Using Microsoft Power BI now ensures that data from the HR and time tracking systems is clearly presented in a visual report. For example, the number of employees is extracted from NMBRS, and the Yoobi time tracking system contributes to the hours worked (or not worked!).

The first Microsoft Power BI phase provided real-time insight into the number of employees and the associated absenteeism. The contract data and associated notifications also provided a faster answer to the question: "How are we actually doing?"

"All in all, this is the next step in our growth. Now that the foundation is in place, we can continue to build our organization in a healthy way."

The next round

We often see that new insights lead to follow-up questions. At doen’r, the question arose to also gain insight into project durations, revenue per project, and revenue per client.

“Actually, most of the data is often already available within an organization. It is just held in different systems and needs a repository and clear configuration. That is our job: to provide entrepreneurs with clear, consistent visuals.” Our colleague Nigel Bakker is well-suited to this task.

Collecting data correctly

Sometimes, this requires a change to the source system. Data is recorded in a specific way. We refine this so all systems can communicate effectively in the Microsoft Power BI "meeting room."

Not everyone needs to see everything

Currently, the Power BI dashboard is no longer just a reporting tool for management and the board. Using Row Level Security (RLS), a pilot group of employees also has access to their own timesheets, among other things. This creates a reporting tool for different authorization levels. You can share the same information with each other and have access to your job level.
